Bobbi Morse is basically Marvel’s attempt at their own Barbie doll in the same way Deadpool is their Slade Wilson. They even named her Barbara and gave her long blonde hair and blue eyes and dressed her up in different outfits a lot.
Bobbi was never my favourite character in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show. Or my second favourite. Or third. Actually, she’s my least favourite character on that show. But hey, at least she’s pretty. She can kick ass too, so what more could we ever want from a female character, right?
Well I find her boring. With Mockingbird #1 comes twenty whole pages of getting to watch the least-interesting S.H.I.E.L.D. agent go to the doctor’s office with a cute new outfit every week.
I’m not kidding.
Watch as Barbie—I mean, Bobbi—goes through testing and lies to her doctors, listen to her attempt at an endearing inner monologue. That character flaw that all heroes seem to have where they don’t care about their own well-being? She’s got it! That makes her a hero, too, right?
*Sigh.* The exciting cover is misleading, but at least the art was nice.
